Below are some of the most common questions and answers as it relates to our data products and services. If you have a question that is not listed, please drop us a line or give us a call. Our supports staff will be happy to assist with any questions or concerns you may have.

Help I placed an order but did not get an email?

Be sure to add the @odditysoftware.com domain to your safe senders list. In almost every case, this is the problem, as our communications have crept into your spam or junk mail folders. Also note that your account is created with the email address you used during the checkout process, so submitting a 'lost password' request from the login page is a quick way to get access to your account area. If you are still having issues, please just give us a call. Our support staff is available 7 days a week from 8 AM to 8 PM CST.

In other cases you most likely entered your email address wrong. If you did not receive an initial receipt email immediately after placing your order, then this is probably the case. As above, just give us a call Toll Free.

Location Where are you located?

In a far distant galaxy, where data travels at the speed of light, statistical analysis is done on terabytes of data in the blink of an eye, and developers are revered and viewed as super human. Some of you may know it as Saint Louis, Missouri - USA :)

Samples Can I view sample data from the database?

All databases have sample data available and linked on the product detail page. In most cases the sample file is a CSV or Excel sample format. Sample data is either a 30 record random selection, or the first 30 records in the database.

Updates When was the data last updated?

The update schedule for each database is listed on each database page. In the vast majority of cases, data updates are on a 120 day basis, which is our minimum schedule. Please note that the number of days listed for an update is the 'minimum' days. Just because a product is listed on a 120 day schedule for example, does not mean that it is exactly 120 day's and that's it. If there are high volumes of activity additions, changes or deletions updates occur more frequently. Note that the Master Rights license is the only license that allows access to these updates at the reduced rate.

Formats What file formats are available?

Each database is available in many formats. The formats available for each item are clearly listed on the product detail page. Every data set is available in both CSV, MS Access and MySQL Dump at a minimum. There is no need to 'choose' or 'pick' the format you need, all available file options will in your account for download.

File Types Can you explain more on the different formats?

This the different formats you can recieve you're data in. The default download will be in CSV file format. However you can recieve the database in any of the formats listed at you're request.

MS Excel
Data will be delivered in Microsoft Excel 2003 compatible (.xls) file format. Please keep in mind the Excel has a 63,000 row limit restriction. So datasets with over 63,000 records are not available in this format.

MySQL Dump
Data files in in MySQL file formats can be downloaded in a raw MySQL cross compatible file dump. The file will have the required create table statements and all of the insert statements for each marketing lead scripted in the file. If you are familiar with phpMyAdmin, then this will only require a simple 1 click import, and your new MySQL database will be up and running.

CSV (Comma Seperated Values)
The CSV ("Comma Separated Value") file format is often used to exchange data between disparate applications. If you are using a special application to manage your marketing or business leads, this is probably the best option for you. Most applications that will allow you to import data will accept csv files as a base option.

MS Access
This download option will be downloaded as an Microsoft Access 2003 compatible (.mdb) Database File.

Downloads How many times can I download a database?

all purchases allow for downloading a maximum of 2 times for each database. Be sure to make a backup copy of your data, once a new version of a database is compiled, older versions are removed and you will not be able to download it again.

Fields What data fields come with each database?

Every database is different. The complete list of available fields for each database is clearly listed on every product page. This should give you a clear idea as to all of the different items or data that is available for each record, or item in the dataset that is being sold. Reviewing the sample data for each database will also give a clear indication on what to expect.

Note that the fields listed for databases are the fields available for each recordset. This does not mean that there is actual data in that field for all, or even a majority of the records. If you need statistics on certain field(s) for this database that are complete/filled in please inquire before purchasing. For many of our data collections full field statistics are published on the product page already.

EMAILS Are your lists OPT-IN Email Lists?

The short answer is no. Some databases are opt-in compliant lists, and in these cases this information is clearly indicated as such. While some databases have contact information such as email address, this information is part of the database for reference information. By purchasing this database you are not purchasing any rights or warranties to contact using such supplied information. Any and all applicable governing laws for SPAM/etc still apply. In general, our databases are not meant as 'email contact' or electronic communication lists. Our lists are supplied from brokers using direct sign-up and public information resources. No attempt is made to validate or or otherwise check the accuracy of provided email addresses. Working contact or communication using the provided email address should not be a deciding factor in making a purchase decision, these are not meant to be sold or used as 'Email Lists'.

Record Counts How are record counts calculated?

The number of records listed for a database reflects the exact number of items or 'rows' that are in the database that is being sold. Further information on the database records counts can be found in the 'Database Statistics' section on the product detail page.

Note, In some of the business specific databases there is a multi category structure in place. Individual businesses can fall into multiple category structures with in the dataset, therefore impacting the record count. If you have any questions or statistical reporting you would like done, please inquire before purchase. We will be happy to assist.

Delivery How do I get my data?

All purchases that exceed $75 USD will be delivered via USPS Priority Mail. With this service, packages reach their destination in 2-3 days within the US, and 5-7 days abroad. Please note that this does not reflect time for Customs delays.

Upon receiving your first shipment and signing for the package your online account will be activated. After activation you will be able to download additional copies of your product, as well as access additional data formats. Also, all further purchases made on your account will be activated for immediate download as well without the need to wait for shipment once your account is in a verified status.

For first time orders under $75, yur data will be made available via download after you have completed the fraud verification process.

Verification What is the Fraud Verification Process?

Please note that if this is your first purchase with us, and that purchase is under $75 USD you must be validated before account credentials are sent. The validation process requires that contact be made by our fraud prevention team at the phone number provided in your billing information at the time of checkout.

Be sure to add the @odditysoftware.com domain to your safe senders list to ensure you receive all communications. We will attempt to make contact during normal business hours 8am - 8pm CST M-S. If contact cannot be made within 24 hours, your transaction will be voided. If you would like to expedite this process, you may call the Data Department at 1.888.506.5995 from the same telephone number provided at checkout.

Privacy What is your privacy policy?

Short Answer, your data and personal information is NOT sold, loaned or shared. Our full privacy policy can be found here that goes into further detail.

Development Can I use the data online?

As long as you have a Publication License for the database, you sure can. The databases available for sale on this site have been assembled in order to help you with your new or existing website or application that requires a set of data you would like to work with in order to make it functional, or add new content or functionality.

Payment Do you provide alternate forms of payment?

Alternate payment options such as Check (mail in), Bank Wire and PayPal can be provided. Please note that if choosing PayPal, we will only accept payment from accounts that have a verified shipping address. If you would like to request one of these payment methods, just contact us from your client account area, or give us a call.
